10 Adorable Dog Breeds You Didn’t Know You Need In Your Life

Introduction

I love dogs. I’m a dog person through and through, but have you ever noticed that some breeds of dogs are more popular than others? The Maltese, French bulldog and Pug are probably three of the most well-known types of dogs out there—and they’re also some of my favorites! But did you know there are other adorable (and hypoallergenic!) pooches out there that don’t get as much exposure? Here’s a list of ten types of dogs you should consider adding to your family if they haven’t been on your radar yet:

1. The Maltese

The Maltese is a very old breed of dog. They are small and have a white coat. They are great with children and other pets, as well as being known for their hypoallergenic coat. The Maltese is also a great family dog because they love to be around people, which means they will make sure you are never lonely while at home!

2. The French Bulldog

French bulldogs are a small breed of dog, with males typically weighing around 26 pounds and females 23 pounds. They are affectionate and loyal, making them great family dogs. Frenchies are particularly good with children and other pets, but don’t expect them to be as energetic as other breeds—they will sleep in your lap on the couch or in bed all day if you let them.

French Bulldogs aren’t suited to hot climates due to their short hair and flat faces. These pups need plenty of exercise every day; they’re playful little balls of fur who love chasing balls and playing tug-o-war with rope toys! They can also be stubborn at times so training them requires patience (and maybe some treats).

3. The Pug

If you’re looking for a dog breed that’s great in an apartment, pugs are your best bet. They don’t need a ton of space and they’re affectionate and loyal—just make sure to keep them away from stairs! Pugs also have a fun-loving, playful personality when it comes to interacting with their owners and other people who come over.

Pugs tend to be easygoing about being groomed properly as well (which is especially important if you’re allergic). They don’t need too much exercise either—about 15 minutes of walking or playing fetch per day will do the trick!

4. The Dachshund

Dachshunds are a small breed dog, with long bodies and short legs. They have a smooth, silky coat that comes in many colors. They can be playful, loyal and gentle. As a breed they are good with children and other dogs as well as cats. Dachshunds do not shed often but when they do it is usually just their hair that sheds not the dander that causes allergies for many people, making them an excellent companion for those who suffer from allergies to dogs.

5. The Coton de Tulear

The Coton de Tulear is a small dog with a big heart. It’s easy to train and great with children, making it an ideal companion for families. They aren’t known as hypoallergenic dogs, but some people find that they don’t have any allergic reactions when around this breed.

These little guys are loyal and protective of their human family members—they will follow you everywhere! They can often be found relaxing in your lap while you read or watch TV, too.

6. The English Bulldog

The English Bulldog is a breed of dog that originated in England. It is a small, stocky dog with a wrinkled face and a distinctive pushed-in nose. The American Kennel Club (AKC) calls this breed “the clown of the canine world”, stating that it is good-natured, dependable, calm and friendly. Bulldogs were bred by monks to bait bulls and bears into fighting each other for entertainment purposes. Today they make great pets!

7. The Havanese

The Havanese is a small, soft-coated dog that originates from Cuba. It has a medium-sized head and well-developed skull, with a black nose or one that is snubbed (turned up). They have big eyes that are round and dark in color, almond-shaped ears that hang down past the jawline slightly.

They are lively dogs with plenty of energy to spare; they love people and will happily go along with anything you want to do with them! They are very affectionate towards their owner(s) but can be aggressive towards strangers until they get used to them.

The Havanese loves being around other pets as well so if you’re looking for a companion for your cat or dog – this could be the perfect choice! This breed makes an excellent companion animal because it’s friendly and outgoing while being smart enough not to let its own curiosity push it into danger (like swimming pools!)

8. The Chinese Crested Dog

If you’re looking for a small, intelligent dog that can go everywhere with you and be your best friend, the Chinese Crested Dog is an excellent choice. This breed of hairless dog originated in China and has been bred to be a companion dog since then. The Chinese Crested Dog also makes an excellent guard dog because of its alert nature and loyalty to their families. If you don’t have kids around, this breed may not work well for you because they tend to bond with children more than adults.

The Chinese Crested is known for being incredibly smart—they learn quickly and are always eager to please their humans! They are loyal companions who love spending time with their families whether it’s going out on walks or just relaxing at home together watching TV after school/work (or both). Although they were originally bred as farm dogs they do well in apartments where there isn’t enough room outside for them run around all day long without getting exhausted from too much activity; however since these little guys love being active so much we recommend giving them plenty opportunities every day–whether that be through playtime or taking walks together every morning/evening before bedtime!

9. The Pekingese

The Pekingese is a loyal, intelligent dog that’s ideal for people who are older or live alone. It makes a great guard dog, too! Peke pups will protect their owners with their lives and love to be around families. If you’re looking for a small companion pet with tons of personality—and the ability to scare away intruders—the Pekingese is perfect for you.

10. The Brussels Griffon

The Brussels Griffon is a small, sturdy dog that has been around for hundreds of years. They’re known for their thick coats that come in all sorts of colors. Despite their small size, they’re surprisingly strong and can run quite fast!

Brussels Griffons are friendly little dogs who love to play with children and other dogs. They’ve been known to be good at learning tricks like fetching objects or sitting on command. If you want a dog who can learn how to do agility and obedience training as well, this breed would be perfect for you!
