ROLLPET

About RollPet

RollPet is an independent, advertising-supported collection of free calculators, planners, and checklists for people who live with dogs, cats, and small companion animals. Rather than open with a mission statement, the honest way to explain the site is to walk you through the tools themselves — what each one is for and where its numbers come from. You can find all of them on the tools page.

Feeding, weight & daily activity

The largest group of tools deals with the everyday question of how much and how often. The Pet Calorie Calculatorestimates a pet’s daily calorie needs from its weight and life stage using the veterinary RER (resting energy requirement) and MER (maintenance energy requirement) formulas. The Pet Food Calculator then turns that calorie figure into an actual feeding amount in grams and cups, based on the calorie density printed on your particular bag or can. To watch results over time, the Pet Weight Tracker lets you log weigh-ins and see the change, percentage change, and whether your pet is trending up or down. The Pet Exercise Calculator suggests a daily activity target by species, energy level, and life stage, split into sensible sessions.

Age & milestones

Two tools translate calendar dates into something meaningful. The Pet Age Calculatorconverts a dog’s or cat’s age into human years on a size-aware curve — a large dog and a small dog age differently — and shows the matching life stage. The Pet Birthday Calculator takes a birth date and works out exact age, the next birthday, and the countdown of days until you celebrate.

Health & medication

The Pet Medication Calculator converts your pet’s weight and a dose rate into milligrams and milliliters per dose. It is educational arithmetic only: the dose rate must come from your veterinarian, and you should confirm every number with them before giving any medication. None of the tools here diagnose, prescribe, or replace a professional exam — for a real health concern, please consult your vet.

New pets, grooming & names

For the planning side of pet ownership, the Adoption Cost Calculator helps you budget the true first-year cost of a new pet, from one-time setup fees to recurring monthly care. The Grooming Schedule Generator builds a routine — brushing, bathing, nails, ears, teeth — from your pet’s species and coat type. And if you are still deciding what to call a new arrival, the Pet Name Generator spins dog and cat name ideas by style, from classic to funny, and shuffles until one fits.

Readiness checklists

Two of the tools are interactive checklists rather than calculators. The Pet Emergency Kit Checklistcovers everything to pack in a pet’s emergency kit, from first aid to sanitation, and the Pet Travel Checklist groups the essentials for travel by car or air with mode-specific safety tips.

Beyond the tools

Alongside the calculators, the blog and learn sections cover practical, everyday pet care in longer form. Our World of Petsmuseum is a browsable gallery of the animals we keep — popular dog and cat breeds, small and pocket pets, and companion birds, fish, and reptiles — with every entry, image, and fact drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.

What RollPet is — and isn’t

RollPet is an independent site funded by on-page advertising, which is what keeps every tool free with no sign-up. It is not affiliated with any veterinary body, pet-food brand, or breed registry it references. The calculators produce estimates and general information based on widely used formulas and typical conditions; they are a starting point, not professional advice, and real outcomes depend on your specific animal. For anything medical, dietary, or urgent, talk to your veterinarian. If you spot an error or have an idea for a tool, the contact page is the place to tell us.
