Since 2006, animal lovers have been jetting to New York City during the summer months to catch Kitten Season at Broadway Barks. Put together by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, this annual event takes place every July in Shubert Alley between Broadway theatres and features stars of stage and screen showcasing kittens and cats (and sometimes other animals) available for adoption through city agencies. The event also includes appearances by dozens of rescue groups with animals up for adoption (not just those who perform on Broadway). Additionally, there are booths set up with pet accessories and information about pet care.
