Introduction
If you’re looking for a new cat, you might be surprised at the number of available options. If you’ve ever visited your local shelter, you’ll know that there are plenty of cats looking for their forever homes. The volunteers at shelters do an amazing job at taking care of these cats and making sure they get adopted into loving homes. A few weeks ago I visited my local shelter to see how many cats were up for adoption and found it really hard to choose just one!
Meet Gus, a brown tabby cat looking for his forever home.
Gus is a brown tabby cat who was found as a stray, but is now looking for his forever home. He’s a very shy cat and needs time to warm up to new people, but once he does he is extremely affectionate with those he loves!
- Gus has been at the shelter since May 2018. The shelter staff feel that this sweet boy will blossom with an owner that can give him lots of love and attention while they spend some time getting to know each other.
Meet Valentino, an orange and white cat looking for his forever home.
Valentino is a friendly and playful cat who would make a great addition to any family. He loves to cuddle and will be by your side whenever you’re at home. This sweet kitty has always been an indoor cat, so he doesn’t have to worry about the dangers of the outdoors.
Valentino is very affectionate, so if you like being showered with lots of love and attention, then this orange tabby is definitely the right choice! He gets along well with other cats, dogs and children too!
Meet Meredith, an adorable gray kitten that is shy, but loves to play once she becomes more familiar with you and feels safe.

Meet Polly, a beautiful young tabby who is looking for her forever home.
Meet Polly, a beautiful young tabby who is looking for her forever home. Polly is about 2 years old and came to us from another shelter. She was found as a stray and was scared and didn’t want to come out of her cage at first, but she has become so much more comfortable here with us! We think she would do best in a home with stable adults or older kids who are willing to spend some time getting to know her. She likes having other cats around, but also enjoys spending time alone if that’s what you prefer!
When you meet Polly at first glance you might think that she’s shy because she looks down while walking around the room (or sometimes even falls over!), but don’t worry—she just needs some time before she totally opens up to you! Once she gets comfortable in your arms or lap (or wherever else), look out world: this girl will be your best friend for life.
Meet Lola, a pink nose and pink paw siamese mix looking for her forever home.
Lola is a beautiful young kitty that loves to play. She is a good listener and will always listen to you. She can be shy at first, but once she gets used to you, she will be your best friend!
Meet Squeaky, an adorable orange and white cat who is always watching everything around her with curiosity.
If you’re looking for a cat who is always watching everything around her with curiosity, we think you’ll fall in love with Squeaky. This adorable orange and white kitty has a bunch of sweet personality traits that make her fun to be around, which is why she’s still searching for the perfect forever home.
If you’d like to meet Squeaky in person and learn more about her story, check out our shelter at 800 West St., Quincy, MA 02170 or visit us online at www.animalaidfoundationofboston.org

If you’re not able to adopt a cat at this time, consider fostering. Foster parents provide temporary care for animals who need a break from the shelter environment. Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience and can lead to adopting a new feline friend of your own!
Don’t let the number of cats in shelters discourage you—there are thousands of cats waiting to find their forever home! Remember that every single cat deserves love and companionship; don’t be afraid to ask questions if there’s something about one cat or another that makes them stand out as particularly good fits for what you’re looking for in a pet companion. And if adopting isn’t right now… why not consider senior or special needs cats? Senior felines make wonderful companions because they tend to be more mellow than younger ones (and sometimes even have fewer health issues!), while special needs felines require extra care but will repay the effort tenfold with their affectionate nature and resilience through difficult times..
Conclusion
If you are looking for a new cat or kitten to adopt, we hope you will visit your local shelter. There are so many cats and kittens waiting for homes!
