Introduction
I’ve never been much of an outdoor person. I don’t hike, and I hate camping. But ever since my daughter got a dog, I’ve found myself spending more time in the great outdoors than ever before! My wife and I have taken our puppy on countless hikes through the woods, and he’s changed how we think about nature — not to mention ourselves.
The Rules Are Different
The world is changing. And not just the political climate, but you too. You will never be the same after living with a dog, or any pet for that matter. Living with a dog teaches you how to treat people differently because it’s easy to get caught up in your own life and forget about others around you. When you live as part of a pack, every person becomes important to everyone else in the group—and this sense of unity makes people feel valued and included in ways they may not have felt before.
Share the Road
There’s a lot to consider when you’re sharing the road with your dog. Some dogs are very protective of their owners, while others are more playful and less focused on what’s going on around them. Regardless of how much training your dog has had, it’s important that you always keep an eye out for him or her when you’re walking in public places. If there is traffic around, make sure that he or she knows where not to go!
He Gives Me an Excuse to Be Silly
Dogs are fun to play with. You don’t have to be an adult to play with a dog. You can roll around on the ground and laugh when you’re both covered in mud, or throw a stick, or chase each other around before taking naps together.
Dogs can make you smile, because they know how to have fun!
It’s Never Too Late to Get a Dog
If you’re still on the fence about getting a dog, it’s never too late to change your mind. Dogs are great companions and help keep you active, so they can be an important part of any family. They may even lead to some new friendships!
If you already have a dog but don’t feel like he’s getting enough attention from his owners, try this simple trick: Throw frequent parties! Bring in friends who know how to play with dogs—and make sure they bring their own animals along. This is especially helpful if you live alone or want to expand your circle of friends outside of work or school. And if one party isn’t enough for your pooch? Throw another one right after!
In short, I’ve never been happier in my life.
In short, I’ve never been happier in my life. The reasons I feel this way are numerous.
I can’t imagine my life without him now, and it’s not just because he’s a constant source of entertainment: he makes me feel like I’m a better person than I actually am. In some ways, he’s like a child; in others, he helps me take care of myself and stay organized (he knows when it’s time for me to go running or eat lunch). But most importantly of all: we talk all the time—about everything from politics to literature to pop culture and beyond—which is something that few people have who aren’t related by blood or at least employed by one another on some level.
Conclusion
The bottom line is that a dog can make you a better person. He will show you how to live in the moment, appreciate what you have and see that life is short and precious. I’m not saying that everyone should get a dog–that’s your choice, but if you’re looking for a new furry friend, consider adopting one!
