You are currently viewing 6 Reasons For You To Adopt A Pet Immediately!

If you are reading this article then you are looking forward to adopting a pet or at least thinking about it.

We will help you figure out why people adopt pets, how can pets improve your life, and why you should adopt a pet immediately. What are the reasons that make people adopt or buy pets ( Siamese cat, a macaw, a chameleon, or any kind of pets ) instead of spending that money on themselves?

As paradoxical as it seems, the love, happiness, and joy that pets can give you are of a special kind! One that you won’t find elsewhere. Even though Pets require a lot of attention, care, and dedication, and they definitely are extra effort and money maybe not anyone is able to afford them, but they should!

1. Pets are a Great Emotional Support

How many breakups have you been through? How many fights do you have had with Bae leaving you by yourself in the apartment? A fuzzy beagle or a Shih Tzu puppy can help with the pain as stated by many girls.

Having a cute little fuzzy pet to talk to that doesn’t judge your decisions is very helpful sometimes, especially if you knew that pets can feel the emotional stress of their respective owners! A scientific study confirms.

Pets provide such a worm-tingling feeling of comfort and sympathy that all of us seek in different places; in a lover’s arms, a mother’s hug, or friends embrace, not knowing that we leave it home with our kittens or Puppies.

We all have our breakdown moments, where we need support and compassion without being judged or blamed for our decisions and certainly, without hearing the I told you so! And a cute hamster or a ferret is the perfect friend you need for this kind of moment, keeping in mind that they are always available to listen.

“Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life”. -James Cromwell

2. Pets are Amazing Entertainers

If you want to constantly engage in more heart-healthy laughter, and keep boredom away, you got to own a pet! Pets are creatures that have specific personalities, habits, and styles of life all of which can keep you laughing and amused for hours.

For instance, a friend of mine had a Himalayan cat that has been trying to catch a goldfish on the National Geographic channel for 2 hours straight without getting bored, another one had his border collie trying to Meow for weeks instead of barking!

Point is, Pets do all sorts of silly, unpredictable, and amusing things, by which they provide a constant source of free, incomparable entertainment.

Some pets, for example, horses, are considered a sort of a sport or a hobby. People participate in a worldwide contest for training and riding horses because of the joy and entertainment they provide.

3. Pets are Good For Your Health

According to a 2013 study conducted by the American Heart Association, taking care of a pet requires a certain amount of effort and physical activities, just enough to help you burn calories and stay in shape.

It sounds ridiculous at first but studies confirmed that walking your German shepherd for instance helps you burn calories and even helps smokers clear the nicotine out of their system!

Moreover, as affirmed by webmd.com, Babies raised in households that have pets, are less likely to get allergies and asthma, some studies show that Babies with dogs or cats at home have fewer colds and ear infections during their first year than babies living in pet-free houses since exposure to allergens will give them a stronger immune system as one study found.

Youngsters are not the only ones who benefit from owning pets, old people suffering from Alzheimer’s and owning a pet, let’s say a rottweiler, are less likely to get anxiety outbursts and tantrums! Therefore they are less likely to lose memory.

4. Some Pets Provide a Safeguard

Dogs are not only for companionship and entertainment, Doberman Pinscher or Rottweiler are originally bred as cattle-protecting dogs, Rottweilers are known to be relentless protectors of their pack. They are an intelligent breed and extremely loyal to their owners.

Rottweilers are known to be aloof with strangers until properly introduced to them and are very quick learners which make them suitable for guarding your house and backing of strangers and burglars.

Dogs do not only watch out for your properties and houses, the Husky breed, especially the females, are known to be very smart and careful with babes and children.

They can know if a child is choking or is about to fall or perform dangerous things, some even claim that their Husky dog prevented their baby from sitting a fork in the plug, therefore getting electrified!

5. Constant Companionship, Care, and Disabilities Assistance

Old, blind, or dough, people with Disabilities need Disability Assistance. In addition, animals are a great way for children with special needs to connect not only with the animal but also with other people.

A pet can even have a soothing effect on a child with special needs. As far as breeds go, You want a breed that is very mild-mannered, and independent enough that you could train it to be a service dog to help your special needs child if you decide later on that you want that.

My top three suggestions would be Newfoundland, Great Pyrenees, and a Pitbull if you want something smaller:

  1. Newfoundlands are wonderful with children, and very intelligent.
  2. The Great Pyrenees are stubborn but very intelligent.
  3. And the Pitbull is one of the gentlest breeds ever according to care.com.

6. A House With Pets is a Stress-Free Environment!

Stress, depression, anxiety… Etc, are the century’s curse. Our major flaw in the 21st century is that we worry a lot, we can’t relax anymore, there is too much negativity around us, and its apparent that stress and anxiety affect our mind and body heavily. Anxiety causes heart attacks, blood pressure, and many other diseases.

There are several techniques to get rid of stress. Massages, for instance, can be very helpful but also very expensive, however, owning a cat can be more than helpful and less expensive.

Pets need attention, they need care and require some playing time all of which can take your mind off things and help you get rid of negativity. As simple as it seems, walking out a dog or spending some quality time with your hamster can actually clear your mind and help you focus more, therefore reducing your anxiety levels.

Whether it’s a dog, a cat, a horse, or a goldfish, pets sure have a positive influence on our lives. They guard us, protect our children and those we care about. They provide emotional support and help us with our daily life drama, they even put up with our craziness and nonsense.

To sum up, pets are such amazing creatures, and if we want to state the reasons to own one, it would take forever. That is why we urge you to get up and go grub a pet and see how it feels to be responsible for something that can give you all this love and care.

It’s difficult to understand why people don’t realize that pets are gifts to mankind. -Linda Blair
