You might have heard of the term “bully” before, but what does it really mean? A bully is someone who uses their power to push other people around. When we think of bullies, we usually picture a big kid constantly picking on other kids at school or someone who is mean to others because they feel like they deserve special treatment. Bullying can happen anywhere and can be based on any number of things: race or ethnicity; religion; sexual orientation; weight or body type; gender identity; ability level (mental or physical); and even something as simple as having an opinion that differs from another person’s.

Some people may feel bad when they see someone being bullied because they know what it feels like to be bullied themselves—and these are often times some of the best allies in helping stop bullying in its tracks! The most important thing we can do when witnessing someone being bullied is speak up for them—and there are many ways you can do this depending on where you’re standing when you first notice the situation occurring:

  • Start by asking the person who’s being targeted if everything’s okay with them if possible without alerting whoever may be doing so should not be done unless absolutely necessary! This way you’ll know exactly how much help/intervention might need later down line after things have settled down again.”

People can be bullied for many different reasons.

  • Bullying is a terrible thing that can happen to anyone, for any reason.
  • A person can be bullied for being different, or weak, or poor. They may also be bullied for being rich, or a different race or religion. And sometimes it’s because of their gender – like if someone feels like they should have been born female but were born male instead!
  • It’s an awful thing that can happen to anyone at any time of day (or night).
