Clear The Shelters is back for Year 11

Nationwide Pet Adoption and Donation Campaign

NBCUniversal Local is holding its nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign for the 11th consecutive year. The campaign will run from August 1 to 31, while an extended donation effort is underway now through September 15. This nationwide effort brings together NBC and Telemundo stations across the country with local shelters and rescues to promote pet adoptions and raise money for animal welfare.

  • Greater Good Charities: Leading the fundraising initiative and allowing users to make donations directly to individual shelters and the general Clear The Shelters fund.
  • Hill’s Pet Nutrition: Providing support for Clear The Shelters’ adoption and fundraising efforts and donating food and adoption kits to participating shelters.
  • WeRescue: Offering virtual pet adoptions and allowing users to search for available pets in their area based on breed, size, and more.
  • The Black Dog: Releasing Clear The Shelters-branded merchandise, hosting adoption events, and giving customers the ability to donate to the Clear The Shelters fund.

Impact and Accomplishments

Since its launch in 2015, Clear The Shelters has driven close to 1.2 million pet adoptions and raised more than $5 million in donations. The 2024 edition featured over 1,600 shelters and rescues located across the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam.
