Paving the Way for Local Animal Care
The South Okanagan region has been plagued by a common concern for pet owners: the need to rush to Kelowna during off-hours for veterinary care. This issue may soon be a thing of the past with the opening of Peach City Animal Hospital.
- Peach City Animal Hospital will provide care for dogs and cats
- Dr. Parampal Brar will lead the charge
- Brar has experience in veterinary care and previously worked as a veterinarian in India for 11 years
The private veterinary clinic, which is set to open on June 1, will offer a range of services, including minor surgeries, dentistry, treatments, and vaccinations. Dr. Brar will be dedicated to providing care for dogs and cats, bringing his extensive experience to the community.
- Dr. Brar previously worked as a veterinarian in India for 11 years, focusing on dog and horse care
- He began his career as a veterinary technician in the Lower Mainland
- He currently works at a 24-hour emergency clinic
Dr. Brar’s passion for animal care is evident in his decision to open Peach City Animal Hospital. He has always had a strong interest in wild horses and dogs, which led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. “I have always been drawn to working with animals, particularly dogs and horses,” Dr. Brar said. “My experience in the medical field has given me the skills and knowledge to provide top-notch care for my patients.”
The clinic will be open on weekends and will offer extended hours services, with the possibility of evening care. Brar wants to provide emergency care services after hours to cater to the needs of pet owners in the South Okanagan.

Dr. Brar is currently hiring assistants and technicians to ensure the clinic is fully staffed. This will determine the availability of services, including evening care. “The area has been in need of a veterinary clinic for a long time,” Dr. “I know people have to travel to Kelowna, even from Osoyoos, Oliver, and Summerland, and it’s not always convenient.”
The South Okanagan After Hours Pet Care (SOAHPC) group has previously tried to collaborate with local veterinarians and Penticton council to find a solution to this issue.
The opening of Peach City Animal Hospital marks a significant improvement in animal care for the South Okanagan region.
In 2024, a registered veterinary technologist started a veterinary care program through Felix and Fido at Home Nursing Care Ltd.
With Peach City Animal Hospital, pet owners in the South Okanagan will no longer have to travel to Kelowna during off-hours for veterinary care. This clinic will provide a convenient and accessible option for pet owners, ensuring their furry friends receive the best possible care.
As the clinic continues to grow and develop, it is essential to remember the significance of this new addition to the community. Peach City Animal Hospital will be a vital resource for pet owners, providing a safe and welcoming environment for their pets to receive top-notch care.
By providing a range of services, including minor surgeries, dentistry, treatments, and vaccinations, Peach City Animal Hospital will be a one-stop shop for pet owners in the South Okanagan.
